Chapter 62: Shomili returns, Will Abhina be a mother? What is Vedant up to?

Chapter: A Promise Beyond Blood

months had passed since Hrithik and Abhina had rebuilt their lives together.

Their home, once filled with silence and grief, was now filled with laughter.

It was their fourth wedding anniversary.

The Roy Mansion was decorated with white lilies, fairy lights and family photographs from happier times.

Mareena insisted on baking Abhina's favourite cake herself.

Abhinav stood beside her, smiling.

"Four years," he said softly. "It feels like yesterday I was giving my daughter away."

Mareena laughed.

"And today she orders her husband around more than any lawyer orders a witness."

Everyone burst into laughter.

Hrithik looked at Abhina affectionately.

"I happily accept that."

Abhina smiled.

"You should."

---

Little Vaishnabi, now four years old, ran around the hall in a tiny pink frock.

"Baba! Catch me!"

Vedant laughed for what felt like the first time in years and lifted his daughter into his arms.

"My princess!"

He kissed her forehead repeatedly.

Vaishnabi giggled.

"No more kisses, Papa!"

Everyone smiled at the father and daughter.

---

Later that evening, while everyone cut the anniversary cake, Abhina held Hrithik's hand.

Looking into his eyes, she said,

"I couldn't give you four perfect years..."

"But I promise the future will be beautiful."

Hrithik squeezed her hand.

"You already made my life beautiful."

---

Meanwhile...

The gates of Roy Mansion opened.

An exhausted woman entered carrying a small bag.

It was Shoumili.

Years in prison had changed her completely.

Her arrogance had disappeared.

Her hair had turned grey.

Her face carried regret and loneliness.

Vedant froze.

"...Maa?"

Shoumili immediately broke down.

"Vedant..."

"I have nowhere to go."

"Please don't leave me alone."

Vedant looked at her silently.

After a long pause he spoke.

"I'll give you shelter."

"But don't expect the relationship we once had."

Shoumili cried harder.

"You hate me..."

Vedant nodded painfully.

"I don't hate you."

"I hate what you made me become."

"You filled my heart with jealousy."

"You made me believe my father never loved me."

"You turned me against innocent people."

He looked at Abhina.

"I destroyed my own sister's life because of those lies."

Shoumili lowered her head in shame.

Abhinav spoke calmly.

"You may stay here as a guest."

"But rebuilding trust will take time."

Shoumili silently agreed.

---

Months passed peacefully.

Hrithik's health had improved remarkably.

His liver function was stable.

His business had begun recovering with Abhinav's guidance.

One evening, while watching Vaishnabi play in the garden, Hrithik gently took Abhina's hand.

"Can I ask you something?"

She smiled.

"Hmm?"

"I think..."

He hesitated.

"I think I'm finally ready."

She looked at him curiously.

"For what?"

He smiled softly.

"To become a father."

Abhina's cheeks turned pink.

She rested her head on his shoulder.

"So am I."

---

The couple began planning for a baby.

Months passed.

Nothing happened.

At first they dismissed it.

Then six months went by.

Eventually they visited a fertility specialist.

The doctor carefully reviewed Abhina's medical history and previous records.

After a long discussion, she spoke gently.

"Mrs. Roy..."

"Your ovaries are showing signs of irregular ovulation."

Abhina became anxious.

"Will I... never become a mother?"

The doctor quickly shook her head.

"I wouldn't say that."

"There are many reasons ovulation can become irregular. In your case, your history suggests prolonged hormonal disruption, (4 years back when Vedant & Shoumili had used period delaying medicines to stage fake pregnancy) severe stress, nutritional imbalance during those difficult years, (when she was separated from hrittik) and earlier medication use may all have contributed."

"Many women with ovulation problems still conceive with appropriate treatment or lifestyle changes. We should run further tests and discuss treatment options."

Hrithik immediately held Abhina's hand.

The doctor smiled reassuringly.

"Please don't lose hope."

---

Outside the hospital...

Abhina sat silently on a bench.

Tears rolled down her face.

"I wanted to give you a child..."

Hrithik knelt before her.

"You have never failed me."

"A child is a blessing, not a measure of your worth."

He gently wiped away her tears.

"We'll face this together."

---

That evening they shared the news with the family.

Mareena hugged her daughter tightly.

"My child..."

Abhinav looked heartbroken but remained hopeful.

"We'll consult the best doctors."

"There is no need to lose hope."

Vedant, however, stood completely still.

His face turned pale.

He slowly remembered everything.

The manipulation.

The prolonged stress.

The medicines.

The emotional trauma he had inflicted years earlier.

His voice trembled.

"Abhina"

Abhina looked at him.

Vedant suddenly fell to his knees.

Everyone was stunned.

He folded his hands before her.

"I destroyed your youth."

"I manipulated you."

"I filled your life with fear. I used those period delaying pills and unknowingly destroyed your fertility! "

"If any part of this suffering is because of what I did..."

"...I can never forgive myself."

Tears streamed down his face.

"I took away your peace."

"And now perhaps..."

"...I even damaged your dream of becoming a mother."

Abhina immediately tried to lift him.

"Vedant..."

"No."

He gently stopped her.

"I've been thinking for months."

"I've already failed once as a father."

"You have been Vaishnabi's real mother since the day she was born."

"You fed her."

"You stayed awake when she was ill."

"You celebrated every birthday."

"She calls you 'Abhi Maa' with more love than anyone else."

He turned towards Hrithik.

"Bhaiya..."

"You gave me another chance to become a better person."

"I have one request."

He handed over a folder.

Inside were legal guardianship documents.

"I want to make both of you Vaishnabi's legal guardians."

The room fell silent.

"I will always remain her father."

"But I want my daughter to grow up with the parents who truly raised her."

Abhina burst into tears.

"What are you saying?"

Vedant smiled sadly.

"You always wanted to protect me."

"Now let me give something back."

He bent down and touched Abhina's feet.

"Abhina..."

"Thank you for becoming my daughter's Abhi Maa."

"I unknowingly took away so much from you."

"I pray that one day you receive every happiness you deserve."

Unable to hold herself back any longer, Abhina pulled him into a tight embrace.

"There is nothing to repay."

"You are my brother. Vedant bhaiya"

Hrithik placed his hand gently on Vedant's shoulder.

"I promise you..."

"We will love Vaishnabi with all our hearts."

"She will always know who her father is."

"And she will always have a home with us."

Little Vaishnabi, unaware of the depth of the moment, ran into the room holding a drawing.

She smiled brightly.

"Papa... Abhi Maa... Hitu Papa... look!"

The adults smiled through their tears.

In that moment, they realised that while life had not unfolded the way they had imagined, love had quietly built a family in its own way.
