Chapter 45: Old Wounds, New Beginnings

Chapter: Old Wounds, New Beginnings

The music stopped.

The entire hall fell silent as Aryan stepped into the Roy Mansion.

Years had changed him.

His hair was streaked with grey, his face carried the marks of time, and his eyes held the exhaustion of a person who had spent years running from the past.

Beside him stood Vedant.

Abhinav and Mareena immediately recognized him.

"Aryan..."

Aryan looked at them and nodded.

"Hello, Abhinav."

For a moment nobody spoke.

Abhina and Hrithik exchanged confused glances.

They had heard Aryan's name many times but had never actually met him.

---

Aryan walked into the center of the hall.

"I have come to clear many misunderstandings."

Everyone listened carefully.

He continued,

"First of all, I arranged bail for Vedant."

Vedant lowered his head.

Aryan looked at Abhinav.

"And secondly, Ekta is the primary person responsible for the illegal betting and match-fixing activities."

The room erupted in whispers.

Aryan wasn't finished.

"There is something else."

He looked directly at Abhinav.

"The night of your so-called suicide attempt..."

Abhinav frowned.

"What about it?"

Aryan's voice turned serious.

"You were intoxicated."

Abhinav nodded.

"I remember drinking."

"Ekta used that opportunity."

The room went silent.

Aryan continued.

"According to the investigation reports, she injured your wrist herself and staged the scene to strengthen the suicide narrative."

Abhinav's eyes widened.

"What?"

Even Mareena looked shocked.

The realization hit him hard.

Had he really been manipulated that deeply?

---

Vedant stepped forward.

For the first time, there was no arrogance in his eyes.

Only guilt.

"Papa..."

Abhinav looked away.

"I don't deserve to call you that," Vedant said softly.

The room became quiet.

Vedant continued.

"I am sorry."

Abhinav remained silent.

"I got involved with Ekta and Zainab."

"I believed lies."

"I chose revenge."

His voice trembled.

"But I know now that I was wrong."

---

Then he looked at Aryan.

"Dad told me everything."

Aryan nodded sadly.

Vedant turned back toward Abhinav.

"All these years I thought you abandoned me."

Tears appeared in his eyes.

"I thought you left my mother because of Mareena aunty."

He looked at Mareena.

"And because of that misunderstanding, I hated all of you."

Abhinav slowly sat down.

Listening.

Unable to interrupt.

---

Vedant continued.

"I was jealous."

His eyes moved toward Abhina.

"I saw the love you gave Abhina."

"I saw the family she had."

"I wanted it."

His voice cracked.

"I thought you loved only her."

Abhina looked down.

For the first time she saw not the manipulator who had destroyed her life—

but a broken person consumed by resentment.

---

Aryan stepped forward.

"This is my fault too."

Everyone looked at him.

"I cut all contact."

Abhinav looked surprised.

Aryan nodded.

"After everything that happened with Priya, I left India."

"I wanted to protect Vedant from the chaos."

His eyes filled with regret.

"But instead I isolated him."

"I should have allowed him to know his father."

"I should have allowed Abhinav to remain part of his life."

---

Vedant looked at Aryan.

Then at Abhinav.

"I want to live as your son, Papa."

The words stunned everyone.

"I know I don't deserve forgiveness."

"But I finally understand."

His voice trembled.

"You never stopped loving me."

Abhinav's eyes became moist.

---

Then Vedant slowly walked toward Abhina.

She instinctively stepped backward.

Memories flashed before her eyes.

The lies.

The manipulation.

The fake pregnancy.

The fake marriage.

The humiliation.

Vedant stopped several feet away.

He didn't come closer.

He simply folded his hands.

"Sorry."

The word sounded painfully sincere.

Abhina stared at him silently.

Vedant continued.

"I ruined your life."

"I trapped you."

"I manipulated you."

"I separated you from your parents."

His eyes were full of shame.

"I cannot undo any of it."

Then he added softly,

"But there is one truth."

He looked at Hrithik.

Then back at Abhina.

"I never touched you."

The room fell silent.

"Everything in Shimla was staged."

"I hated you."

"But I never wanted to violate you."

"Whenever Shomili pushed me further, I refused."

"Because despite everything..."

His voice broke.

"You were my sister."

Abhina's eyes filled with tears.

For the first time, she felt one burden leave her heart completely.

---

Hrithik stepped forward.

He looked at Vedant carefully.

"Forgiveness is not something you can demand."

Vedant nodded.

"I know."

Hrithik continued.

"If you truly regret your actions, become a better human being."

"Respect people."

"Earn trust."

"Then maybe one day forgiveness will come."

Vedant lowered his head.

"You are right."

---

Then he turned toward Mareena.

The woman he had blamed for years.

"Mareena aunty..."

His voice shook.

"I am sorry."

Mareena looked at him quietly.

"I hated you."

"I was jealous of your family."

"I thought you stole my father."

He wiped his eyes.

"But now I know the truth."

"My mother destroyed herself because of jealousy."

"I followed the same path."

Mareena closed her eyes.

For a long moment she said nothing.

Then softly replied,

"Learn from it."

Vedant nodded.

---

Aryan stepped beside him.

"I will be filing for divorce from Shomili."

Everyone looked surprised.

Aryan continued.

"I loved Priya."

"Perhaps too much."

"When Vedant was born, I wanted to preserve whatever remained of her memory."

His eyes turned distant.

"But Shomili turned that love into poison."

"I can no longer support her actions."

---

The atmosphere slowly became lighter.

Not perfect.

Not healed.

But lighter.

The past could not be erased.

Yet for the first time, everyone seemed willing to move forward.

---

The Sangeet ceremony resumed.

Music returned.

Guests slowly relaxed.

Laughter echoed through the mansion again.

Abhina finally danced without fear.

Hrithik stood nearby smiling.

Abhinav watched his daughter.

Mareena rested her head on his shoulder.

And Aryan stood quietly in a corner, wondering what life could have been if different choices had been made years ago.

---

The next morning was the Mehndi ceremony.

The mansion buzzed with excitement.

Women filled the courtyard.

Mehndi artists arrived with cones and designs.

Mareena's friends surrounded her excitedly.

"Today your daughter becomes a bride!"

Mareena smiled proudly.

"My little girl grew up too fast."

---

Abhina sat while intricate mehndi patterns were drawn across her hands.

Her friends teased her endlessly.

Hidden within the design was Hrithik's name.

The artist grinned.

"Now the groom has to find it."

Abhina blushed immediately.

---

Meanwhile Hrithik tried escaping.

Unfortunately everyone had other plans.

"No groom escapes Mehndi!" one auntie declared.

Before he could protest, he was dragged to a chair.

Even Abhinav laughed.

"Today nobody is saving you."

Hrithik sighed dramatically.

"I fought criminals, court cases and conspiracies."

He looked at the mehndi cone.

"But this is where my defeat finally happens."

The entire family burst into laughter.

For the first time in many years, Roy Mansion felt like a home again.

A home filled with forgiveness.

A home preparing for a wedding.

And perhaps, finally, a home ready for happiness.
