Mourning Bride – Season 2
Chapter 18: The Cage
Abhina stepped into Vedant’s mansion again—
But this time, not as a guest.
As someone who had nowhere else to go.
Her eyes were swollen from crying. Her heart… completely shattered.
Inside the house, a middle-aged man sat in the living room.
Vedant glanced at him.
“My uncle,” he said casually.
The man looked at Abhina from head to toe.
A strange, uncomfortable gaze.
Abhina lowered her eyes.
That night—
It was supposed to be their first night after marriage.
Abhina slowly walked toward the room, nervous, broken, unsure.
But Vedant stopped her.
“We shouldn’t stay together,” he said.
She looked at him, confused.
“I’ve kept a pooja,” he added. “And… you’re pregnant. We should maintain distance.”
Abhina nodded silently.
Too tired to question.
Too broken to think.
She went to another room.
And that night—
She cried herself to sleep.
She missed everything.
Her parents.
Her room.
Her bed.
Her safety.
Her life.
She wasn’t ready for marriage.
Not like this.
And Hrithik’s words echoed in her mind—
“Foolish and selfish…”
She covered her face and cried harder.
Next Morning
Reality hit harder.
Vedant’s uncle called out—
“Come here.”
Abhina walked hesitantly.
“Sit on the floor,” he ordered.
She froze.
“I said SIT.”
Slowly, she sat down.
He placed food in front of her.
Like she didn’t belong at the table.
Then—
He reached forward and took off her jewellery.
“All this is not yours anymore,” he said coldly.
Abhina looked at Vedant.
But his expression had changed.
He said nothing.
Did nothing.
Soon, she was pushed into the kitchen.
“Work,” the uncle ordered.
Abhina’s hands trembled as she began cooking.
Tears silently fell into the food she made.
Then came the real demand.
The uncle leaned close and said—
“Tell your father to send 10 crore rupees.”
Abhina’s heart dropped.
“Or else,” he continued,
“you’ll be thrown out… and Vedant won’t take responsibility for your child.”
Abhina broke down.
She ran to Vedant.
“Please… don’t leave me,” she cried.
Vedant looked away.
Cold.
Distant.
With shaking hands, Abhina picked up the phone.
She called Abhinav.
“Papa…” she cried.
“What happened?” he asked immediately.
She lied.
“Vedant’s house… it’s getting auctioned… some goons attacked him… he’s injured… we need money…”
Abhinav didn’t hesitate.
Because despite everything—
He still loved her.
He transferred 5 crores immediately.
Abhina didn’t inform Mareena.
She knew—
Mareena would question everything.
When the money came—
Vedant’s uncle checked.
“Only 5 crores?” he snapped.
Before she could speak—
SLAP.
He hit her hard.
“You couldn’t even bring the full amount?”
Abhina fell to the ground, crying.
From the shadows—
A middle-aged woman watched silently.
A faint, satisfied smile appeared.
“Second step… to ruin the Roys.”
One Week Later
Days blurred into each other.
Abhina was no longer a bride.
She was treated like a servant.
She worked all day.
She cried all night.
She was still being given the same pills—
The ones Vedant called “anti-depressants.”
But now—
She had no strength left to question anything.
Her body felt weak.
Her mind felt trapped.
She noticed it clearly now—
Vedant had changed.
Completely.
But she couldn’t do anything.
Her phone was taken away.
She had no way to reach out.
No way to escape.
Meanwhile…
At Roy Mansion—
Mareena sat in silence, her world empty without her daughter.
Every corner of the house reminded her of Abhina.
But she forced herself to stay strong.
Elsewhere—
Hrithik sat alone, a glass in his hand.
For the first time—
He allowed himself to feel it.
The truth.
His attachment to Abhina.
His anger.
His helplessness.
He drank…
Trying to drown the pain.
But it didn’t go away.
And somewhere far from them all—
Abhina was slowly losing herself.
Inside a house that was never meant to be her home.
