Chapter 5: The Celebration Before the Storm

Mourning Bride – Season 2

Chapter 5: The Celebration Before the Storm

That night, Abhina returned home uneasy.

Her mind kept replaying the scene at the café.

Hrithik had seen everything.

What if he tells Maa and Papa?
The thought refused to leave her.

She tried to act normal, but the fear lingered quietly inside her.

In the following days, the house slowly filled with a different kind of energy.

The Bengali New Year was approaching.

(Mareena and Abhinav are Bengali.)

Preparations for Poila Boishakh had begun.

Mareena was busy arranging everything—from decorations to food to the guest list. The house was soon going to host a grand gathering of close friends and business partners.

Abhina tried to distract herself by helping her mother, but her thoughts often drifted back to Vedant… and Hrithik.

Just then, her phone rang.

Vedant.

She smiled and quickly answered.

“Hey!”

“Poila Boishakh is coming,” Vedant said. “I have a plan. I want to take you to a night club that day.”

Abhina’s eyes lit up with excitement.

“Really? That sounds amazing!”

But her excitement faded slightly.

“My parents won’t allow me to stay out late,” she admitted.

There was a short pause.

Then Vedant said calmly,
“Just tell them you’re staying at a friend’s house.”

Abhina hesitated.

“I don’t know…”

“Trust me,” he said smoothly. “Nothing will happen.”

His voice was convincing.

Slowly, Abhina nodded, even though he couldn’t see her.

“Okay…”

A Few Days Later – Poila Boishakh

The house was beautifully decorated, filled with laughter and festive warmth.

In the afternoon, Mareena and Abhinav welcomed their guests—friends, relatives, and business partners.

Among them was Hrithik.

As he entered, his eyes instinctively searched for Abhina.

He found her.

Dressed beautifully, smiling as she helped serve guests.

For a moment, sadness crossed his face.

But he said nothing.

He chose silence.

Everyone gathered for lunch, enjoying traditional Bengali dishes.

Suddenly—

Abhina coughed.

A fish bone got stuck in her throat.

She struggled to breathe properly.

Before anyone could react, Hrithik quickly stood up, moved beside her, and gently patted her back.

“Slowly… drink water,” he said calmly.

He handed her a glass.

After a few tense seconds, the discomfort eased.

Abhina looked up at him.

Their eyes met.

For a brief moment, there was something unspoken between them.

Gratitude… confusion… and something deeper.

But neither said anything.

Meanwhile…

In another part of the city, Vedant stood alone on a call.

His face was cold. Calculated.

“Arrange the room,” he said quietly.

A pause.

“And drug her drink on time.”

His voice lowered further.

“We need to do it quickly.”

There was no hesitation in his tone.

No emotion.

Only intent.

Precap

“Please… leave me… please don’t do this!”

A terrified voice echoed in the darkness.

Suddenly—

A man shouted,

“Leave her! Damn it!”

“I’ll kill you!”
