“The Surprise That Changed Everything”
Mareena thought the wedding day had already taken everything out of her—joy, exhaustion, disbelief, happiness folded into one overwhelming blur.
She was wrong.
The room was quiet when Abhinav returned, his expression unreadable, his steps unhurried.
“There’s something I need to show you,” he said softly.
She frowned. “Now?”
“Yes,” he replied. “Now is the only time it makes sense.”
Before she could question him, the door behind him opened.
An elderly woman stepped inside.
Her back was slightly bent, her hair streaked silver, her face lined with years Mareena had never witnessed. Yet something about her—something terrifyingly familiar—made Mareena’s chest tighten.
The woman’s eyes filled instantly.
“Mareena…”
The name sounded fragile on her tongue.
Mareena’s vision blurred. Her knees weakened. The last thing she felt was Abhinav catching her before the world went dark.
---
When consciousness returned, voices surrounded her.
“Slowly… drink this…” “Mareena, I’m here.”
She blinked, taking in Abhinav’s worried face, water pressed to her lips. She swallowed, breath uneven, and then—
She saw her again.
Standing a few steps away, hands clasped as if holding herself together.
The photograph.
The one Mareena had stared at all her childhood.
Older now. Broken. But undeniably her.
“You…” Mareena whispered, her voice cracking. “You’re—”
“Yes,” the woman said, tears spilling freely. “I’m your mother.”
Mareena staggered to her feet.
“Why?” she cried. “Why did you leave us?”
The words poured out, years of silence breaking all at once.
“Why did you betray my father? Why did you choose another man? Why did you give birth to another child while we suffered? Why did you disappear and let us rot in grief?”
Her mother collapsed to her knees.
“Because I was foolish,” she sobbed. “Because I mistook greed for love. I thought Devraj Roy was precious—but your father… your father was the diamond I destroyed with my own hands.”
Mareena’s hands trembled.
“Because of me,” her mother continued, “your father died. Children suffered. Lives broke. Sorry is too small a word for what I’ve done.”
Mareena turned away, tears falling freely.
“I don’t accept you,” she said, voice shaking. “Not yet.”
Her mother bowed her head. “I understand.”
Time stretched painfully.
Then Mareena turned back.
Slowly.
She stepped forward and embraced her—not in forgiveness, not in forgetting—but in release.
Both of them wept.
Abhinav watched silently, knowing this was the hardest gift he had ever given her.
Mareena asks,"For where did you get her?"
Abhinav says,"I got the help from the Commissioner he found her out. Your mother was deported to Myanmar by my grandfather, your mom lost her memory and just one year ago she hot it back. Your mom will stay here only with us".
Mareena said,"Why are you so good Abhinav, why do you love me so much?"
Abhinav took her in his embrace saying,"Because you are my soulmate, how can I neglect my soulmate?"
Mareena smiled and took him in her embrace.
...........
Its time for their wedding night
Night wrapped the mansion in stillness.
Mareena sat on the edge of the bed, dressed in deep red silk lehenga, her hair tied in a bun, her slim waist was visible , her face was glowing with luminous bold kajal and red lipstick with her bangles chiming softly with every nervous movement. The room glowed with candles, petals scattered like whispered promises.
Her heart raced.
The door opened.
Abhinav entered and closed it gently behind him.
He turned on the soft romantic music 🎶
"Ang laga de re
Mohe rang laga de re
Ang laga de re
Mohe rang laga de re
Touch me with your body
Colour me in your colour dear
Touch me with your body
Colour me in your colour dear".
Soft music filled the air—sensuous, devotional, full of longing.
A song about love that stains the soul, about surrender that feels sacred.
Touch my soul with yours, the melody seemed to say.
Color me in your devotion.
He approached her holding a single rose.
When he lifted her veil, he froze.
For a moment, the world disappeared.
“You’re breathtaking,” he whispered.
She blushed, lowering her gaze.
He traced the rose along her cheek, slow and reverent.
I am yours, the music hummed.
Cast your spell on me.
As he went near her lips to kiss her,
The music played 🎵
"Main toh teri joganiya
Tu jog laga de re
Am whole yours
You love me please".
She stood and walked toward the window. Moonlight spilled over her face, softening every line, every breath.
Abhinav followed.
He pressed a kiss to her exposed back—gentle, worshipful.
The music played 🎵
"Jog laga de re
Prem ka rog laga de re
Main toh teri joganiyaan
Tu jog laga de re
Love me please
Give me ailment of love
Am whole yours
You love me please."
She inhaled sharply, a soft sound escaping her lips before she could stop herself.
The music swelled again.
Give me the beautiful sickness of love, it seemed to plead.
He wrapped his arms around her, resting his forehead against hers.
“Fifteen years,” he murmured. “And I’d wait again if I had to.”
She smiled, eyes shining. “This feels like destiny finally keeping its promise.”
He kissed her hair.
Outside, the moon watched.
Inside, love finally claimed its place.
Abhinav,"Mrs Mareena Abhinav Roy I will not leave you today!"
